Esthetics Program – 600 hours

Theory and lab-clinic practical hours

All hours taught incorporate textbook, videos, demonstrations, reinforced by reading, testing and practical practice on the clinic floor with clients. In addition guest speakers, demonstrators and vendors are invited to attend and enhance each component we find that lends itself to a better understanding and teaching of such subjects.

You are taught theory classes and clinical floor practice-lab. All contribute to you being able to have an academic knowledge, understanding and ability to demonstrate the art and science of Esthetics with an emphasis in Masters Makeup Artistry for employment. This course is designed to teach the fundamentals of skincare and makeup techniques for work in Commercials, Funeral Homes, Magazines, TV, Film, Bridal, and Cosmetic Retail Sales and in a Salon & Spa environment.  This course is also designed to teach the fundamentals of applying eyelash extensions in a variety of ways and techniques.  Lashology is an extraordinary compliment towards the Esthetician along with facials, skincare and makeup application.  Everything you learn contributes to you being able to have an academic knowledge, understanding and ability to demonstrate the art and science of Facial & Body Hair Removal. This course is designed to teach the fundamentals of the removal of Body & Facial Hair through various methods and techniques. The programs ultimate goal is to make sure the process is done safely with proper sanitation techniques, due to the skin being the largest organ on our body.

Each named class is taught from the text then demonstrated and practiced on the floor to learn techniques and application of what was reviewed in theory.

General Sciences – Define the various types of Bacteriology and microorganisms, Describe General procedures and safety measures.  Learn how proper nutrition is key in the Esthetic field.

Infection control – Discuss Infection control, disinfection and sterilizations.  Be able to identify the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.   Learning and Understanding regulatory agencies and the differences between them. Being able to list the types and classifications of bacteria. Learning the differences between cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing. Learn about the different types of disinfectants and how they are used. Learn the Universal and Standard Precautions. Learning about your responsibilities as a makeup artist and how to safely clean and disinfect your tools and implements properly.

Cosmetic chemistry - Learn about different products and ingredients.  Describe the purpose of the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).  Explain Cosmetic chemistry.

Applied Sciences – Learn about Anatomy and Physiology by describing the structures and the function of the human body.  Facial Anatomy and Physiology – Learning how to communicate the importance of anatomy and physiology of the face and facial skin as it applies to makeup application. Be able to identify the bones and muscles of the face and identify the layers of the skin and their functions. Learn about the common skin conditions that a makeup artist would encounter. Be able to identify which skin conditions a makeup application may be performed on.

Hair removal - Learn to do a Client Consultation appropriately to perform a Hair removal service.Describe the different types of hair removal.  Have an understanding of general procedures and safety measures.  Preparation – Learn to follow proper protocol for Service Preparation.  Hair removal Contraindications – Learn about the various factors that can cause hair removal contraindications to prevent negative side effects.  Permanent Hair Removal – Learn about the different varieties of ways that can remove hair permanently.  Temporary Hair Removal – Learn about the different methods of Temporary Hair Removal on the face and body. Learn about the different types of waxes that are out there in the industry.  Wax - Explain various wax types.  Tweezing- Demonstrate the art of tweezing.
